Why Educational Expeditions

ex·pe·di·tion [ek-spi-dish-uh n] an excursion, journey, or voyage made for some specific purpose or an organized group of people undertaking a journey for a particular purpose. An educational expedition is an opportunity to learn about new surroundings, to hear about the past and see visions for the future while exploring, questioning, challenging and being challenged. It is a vehicle for learning in a creative and exciting environment while having fun and experiencing the world. Our expeditions are designed thematically, combining educational and geographical considerations into one coherent experience.

Our Educational Expeditions very quickly become traveling communities. What may have begun as a group of people from similar or diverse backgrounds, soon becomes one community of searchers, travelers, fun-seekers and friends. We have found that what unites the participants of our expeditions is a shared desire to educate themselves about places and cultures other than their own. The Da'at traveler is an explorer, looking to learn about and experience the places visited. Our tour educators accompany every group, becoming an integral part of the traveling community and making sure that although diverse, the group functions as a community, in the broadest sense of the word. They are all highly trained professionals who are experienced in helping participants engage in complex issues and concepts while having the adventure of a lifetime. On select educational expeditions, we include other experts, such as scholars or academics specializing in the region being visited or themes relating to the expedition.

The Holistic approach that Da'at brings to the educational travel experience is what creates the added value. We are committed to assisting the traveler in creating their own experience while using our vast array of educational, experiential and logistical resources to facilitate independent exploration and thought. It is our belief that an educational expedition can only be complete by meeting and entering into dialogue with locals. As such, each one of our programs includes a number of Da'at Encounters that are designed to give participants an undisturbed, honest and true reflection of the place they are visiting. Most importantly, we believe in what we are doing and we know that educational expeditions create beginnings that lead in innumerable directions.
