DEPARTURE - Depart the U.S.A. for Berlin.

DAY TWO: Thursday
WELCOME TO BERLIN- Arrive at the Berlin International Airport.
- Welcome by our representative and assistance with arrival formalities.
- Transfer to the hotel for check-in.
- Early afternoon, meet in the hotel lobby to begin an introductory tour of Berlin including:
- View the Reichstag, seat of the German Parliament and one of Berlin's most significant landmarks.
- The Brandenburg Gate, originally commissioned by Friedrich Wilhelm II to represent peace, the gate was ironically incorporated into the Berlin Wall during the years of the Communist regime. Perhaps Berlin's best known landmark, it now stands as a symbol of the city's reunification.
- The Holocaust Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe - designed by architect Peter Eisenman - consists of thousands of dark grey concrete slabs that form a gentle wave, designed to give visitors a sense of groundlessness and of a loss of orientation; the memorial also includes a subterranean information center, which houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

DAY THREE: Friday
BERLIN'S JEWISH HERITAGE- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Tour Jewish sites in East Berlin including:
- Otto Weidt's Workshop for the Blind, a haven for Jews during the Holocaust years in Berlin.
- Grosse Hamburger Strasse, once the center of Berlin Jewry.
- New Synagogue and the Centrum Judaicum, one of the most important locations for contemporary Jewish life in Berlin.
- The Hackescher Market
- The Sophienstrasse
- The Jewish Boy's School
- The Jewish Cemetery, with Moses Mendelsson's grave
- The site of the Women's Protest on Rosenenstreasse
- The site of the Book Burning (August Bebel Platz)
- Optional Shabbat services at the New Synagogue.
- Da'at EncounterFestive Shabbat Dinner with members of the local Jewish community.

DAY FOUR: Saturday
SHABBAT IN BERLIN- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Optional Shabbat services at the Joachim Sthaler Strasse.

- Afternoon walking tour to the Story of Berlin interactive museum, as well as:
- Kudamm and Tauentzien neighborhoods
- Nollendorf Square
- KDW department stores
- Dinner on your own.

DAY FIVE: Sunday
A PASSAGE THROUGH TIME- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Drive to Wannsee and visit the Wannsee Villa, where the “Final Solution” Conference was held. The collection includes 150 documents, many found in Eastern Europe, and some 600 photographs to recount the plight of the Jews; from outbreaks of anti-Semitism in the 19th century to Hitler's “final solution.
- Da'at Encounter Meet with Dr. Norbert Kampe, director of the Wannsee Conference Educational and Memorial Site.
- Visit the Liebermann Villa, summer home of Jewish artist Max Liebermann, one of the greatest German painters, and one of the most interesting and controversial figures of Berlin's elite circles at the start of the 20th century.
- Lunch on own.
- Drive to Grunewald, an affluent Jewish suburb of Berlin.
- Memorial service at Gleis 17, or Track 17, from which Berlin Jews were deported to Riga, Auschwitz, and Thereisinstadt. Both sides of the railroad platform are lined with tiles that indicate the date, the number of people, and their destination.
- Visit the Grunewald and Ratheneau Villas.
- Dinner on your own.

DAY SIX: Monday
A KALEIDOSCOPE OF BERLIN- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Da'at Encounter Meet with Prof. Walter Homolka, executive director of the Abraham Geiger College, the first liberal rabbinical seminary in Continental Europe since the Holocaust; run by Potsdam University.
- Visit the Jewish Museum of Berlin, designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. One of the most conspicuous architectural landmarks in the city, it embodies remembrance, melancholy and departure.
- Visit Checkpoint Charlie and the museum, situated at one of the best known crossing points between East and West Berlin during the Cold War.
- Visit the Topography of Terror, where the central institutions of Nazi persecution and terror were located.
• Afternoon at leisure. - Wrap-up discussion of the trip.

DAY SEVEN: Tuesday
RETURN
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Transfer to the Berlin International Airport.
- Departure flight to the U.S.A., arriving the same day.
| | - Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars. All hotel accommodations, motor coach transportation, special dinners, sightseeing, admissions, luggage handling and the services of local guides, drivers, and the Expedition Educator are included.
- Hotels are subject to confirmation. If the hotels listed cannot be confirmed, we will use other hotels on the same level.
- Hotel Accommodations: The tour price includes all hotel accommodations, in hotel rooms with private baths. Our standard is to provide the best available hotels while considering value. Although the level of the accommodations may differ slightly from hotel to hotel, we are committed to your comfort. Two-bed rooms are reserved in most hotels. Triples are two-bed rooms with a rollaway cot where available and are not recommended when considering the comfort of those in the room. King-size beds are not available in most hotels; what is considered king-size usually consists of two single beds pushed together and made up separately, but with one headboard. Some two-bed rooms may have two twin - not full- or queen-size - beds.
- Meals are included as specified in the itinerary.
- Expedition Educator: All trips are conducted by our Expedition Educators or local guides who remain with the group throughout the tour.
- Gratuities Included: All gratuities for restaurant and hotel staff.
- Baggage: All tour packages / group tours allow one piece of luggage per person and one carry-on bag. Excess luggage will be subject to charge of up to $100 per piece. The Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator, shall not be held responsible for any damage to or loss of luggage/personal items. All damage/loss must be reported at time of incident and documented in writing by local authorities for submission to the insurance company. With regard to airline baggage allowance, different carriers have different regulations for business and coach, please check with your individual carrier with regard to permitted number of pieces, weights and dimensions. The tour operator is not responsible for fees levied by any air carrier for the transport of personal belongings of any kind.
Not Included
- Airfare to the tour departure point and from the tour ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased from us for travel originating in the United States. Please see Flights tab in the right-side toolbar.
- Personal Expenses: All personal expenses such as: laundry, valet service, cables, telephone calls and postage are not included.
- Guide and Driver Gratuities:
- 4 seater - $70 (i.e. 2 pax) - per day
- 7 seater - $90 (i.e. 3-5 pax) - per day
- 10 seater - $110 (i.e. 5-7 pax) - per day
- 10-19 passengers: Guide $10, driver $5 - per participant per day
- 20 passengers and more: Guide $8, driver $4 - per participant per day

- Airline Security Measures: In the U.S., you must provide identification in the form of a passport at the time of airport check-in for travel to international destinations. Your passport name must match the name on your tour reservation and airline ticket or you may be denied boarding.
- If you are traveling from an airport outside the jurisdiction of the U.S, you will need to determine what travel documentation and identification is required for that particular airport.
- Due to heightened security regulations, certain items such as a metal nail file, pocketknife, cigarette lighter or tweezers, and some liquid, gel, or aerosol items may not be permitted in your carry-on luggage. Please call your airline prior to departure to obtain current information on non-permissible carry-on items and recommended airport check-in times. You may also wish to visit the Transportation Security Administration website atwww.tsa.govto obtain more information on acceptable identity documentation and prohibited luggage items.
- Holidays and Museum Closures - Museum visits and personal shopping time may be disrupted due to unforeseen circumstances or the many religious, state and local holidays locally observed in the destinations being visited.
- Photography During Tours: We will occasionally use photographs taken by fellow guests or your trip director for promotional purposes. If you prefer that your photo not be used in any marketing activities, please notify us at the start of your tour.
